The difference between α alumina, γ alumina and β alumina?

 Alpha alumina(α alumina)  is called nano alumina. xz-L14 nano alumina is white fluffy powder. The crystal type is α type. The particle size is 20nm; the specific surface area is larger than 50m/g. It owns uniform particle size distribution, high purity and high dispersion. The specific surface area is low, resistant to high temperature and inert, but it does not belong to activated alumina, and it is almost no catalytic activity. Nano alumina xz-L14 owns strong heat resistance, good formability and stable crystalline phase, high hardness and dimensional stability. It could be widely used in all kinds of plastics, rubber, ceramics, resistant to fire etc to improve toughening, especially to improve the wear resistance of ceramic compactness, smoothness, thermal fatigue, fracture toughness
creep degeneration and polymer products. 

Gamma alumina is nano alumina xz-L290, white fluffy powder state. The crystal type is γ -Al2O3. The particle size is 20nm; the specific surface area is larger than 230m2/g. Nanometer alumina xz-L290 owns size distribution uniform, high purity and excellent dispersion and high specific surface, with resistance to high temperature and inert, high activity. porous, so it is a kind of activated alumina. It is high hardness, dimensional stability good, widely used in all kinds of plastics, rubber, ceramics, refractories and other products.

Beta alumina is hexagonal, with lamellar structure. The unit cell contains two alumina spinel based block.Now it has been successfully used as sodium / sulfur battery separator materials.
